(G.A.A.) God and AA - Lapel Pin The dot in the middle is you. You keep God (the letter G) in one hand and AA (the letters AA) in the other hand, you won't have a hand to pick up a drink.
The idea and design of an AA pin was dreamed up by a New Jersey member who had 100 run off by hand and presented them to friends in the movement and to all sincere incoming members of his group. That was about 1945. Eventually, the supply ran out, but the idea of an AA pin intrigued members everywhere, and the demand for more persisted.

History of The Alanon Association
In 1944, a number of recovering alcoholics purchased the present building known as the "the Alanon Club". The Alanon Association established the Alanon Club as a place for 12 Step meetings and social activities, so important for the recovery process. Bill W., one of the founders of Alcoholics Anonymous, would frequently attend meetings and other activities at the Club. The Alanon Association is the oldest 12 Step recovery clubhouse in the United States still in use today. When General Services of Alcoholics Anonymous wanted to begin a series of meetings for the family and friends of recovering addicts, they had to hyphenate the word "Al-Anon" since the Alanon Association already held the copyright on the term as a single word.
